This landlocked country, officially known as the Republic of Malawi, is located in southeastern Africa, with Zambia to the west, Mozambique to the east, south and southwest, and Tanzania to the north and northeast. It is also affectionately called "The Warm Heart of Africa" because of the friendly people there. Now, on a more caffeinated note, coffee was only introduced to the country by British colonists in the 1890s. By going against the established markets for timber, peanuts, tea and tobacco, it was only when the country became independent in 1964 that coffee seemed an economically useful crop. For the last 4 to 5 years, we as Viva Sara have been working closely with a group of small coffee farmers in the North of Malawi. They are united in the Phoka Coffee Growers Cooperative. Satemwa helps us process their parcel and we help them export to Europe.

Malawi Misuku Hills is a distinct and elegant single origin that perfectly illustrates the potential of African terroir. This coffee comes from small farmers in the north of Malawi, united in the Phoka Coffee Growers Cooperative, with which Viva Sara has built a direct and lasting collaboration.

Thanks to its high location and favorable climate, this coffee develops a... lively acidity, a round body and a refined aromatic profile. You will recognize keys in the heading cocoa, citrus and ripe stone fruit such as peach.

This coffee combines freshness with depth and offers a nice balance between complexity and accessibility. A distinct origin with a strong story.

Also known as the "warm heart of Africa", Malawi has a growing reputation in specialty coffee thanks to its high-altitude terroirs and ideal climatic conditions.
