Our coffee roaster

Take a look at our roastery.
Behind every cup of coffee is craftsmanship, precision and passion.

"When 'our father' had a new building built in Vichte in 1998, it marked a real milestone in our family history. Not surprising, because barely 11 years after Fernand gave up his secure job as a construction contractor to follow his heart and become a coffee roaster, he already took the step to start his own coffee roasting company"

Peter says

The installation he had at the time was solid and has served its purpose effortlessly over the years. Only the world also changed in those 25 years. Climate change continued, energy prices skyrocketed, but the customer also changed. More and more, the customer is king. Goodbye uniform sausage that is thrown onto the market in large quantities, welcome personalized packages. It is precisely these changed circumstances that have prompted us to invest in a new roasting facility. Not an easy choice in economically uncertain times, but one we made with enthusiasm and ambition.

The coffee world has also taken serious steps forward in recent years in terms of sustainability. For example, we have been working with SeaBridge in Zeebrugge for years, a high-tech logistics center where all our coffee is stored in a very ecological way. This is guaranteed by, among other things, the immense solar panel installation or the CO2-friendly warehouse.

Where we had the hardest time being sustainable until recently was roasting our coffee. Because we don't have to tell you that roasting coffee beans traditionally requires a lot of energy and produces considerable emissions. Until now, because the new installation we bought at the Italian brand IMF ensures a computer-controlled process in such a way that no detail is left to chance. We want to spare you the technical details, but the ultra-modern installation produces far fewer emissions and makes significant savings in energy consumption. Viva Sara was also a pilot project for the Italian brand, because it was the first time that they applied their modern and sophisticated technology to a smaller family roastery. This means that we can now humbly say that our roastery has become one of the most progressive in the Benelux.

The new roastery not only hits the nail on the head when it comes to sustainability. The options are enormous. This way we can not only roast large batches of coffee, we can also easily process small quantities. For example, we went looking for the perfect coffee for a company in the region that met the wishes of 90% of the employees. We organized tasting sessions and fine-tuned the coffee mixture according to the taste of our colleagues. And so we can now say that that company drinks unique coffee, fully tailored to the preferences of its employees. What if that's not a way to spoil your employees? But this also makes it possible for a catering business to put together your own home coffee, adapted to the taste of your customers and the budget you have available for this. Honestly? Lately, as a coffee roaster, I feel like a kid in a candy store. And our customers can only benefit from this…
