Congo Bahavu Kivu is a balanced and characterful coffee with a sparkling acidity, a full body and fresh berry notes. This combination provides a lively but at the same time accessible coffee experience.

The coffee grows on the island of Idjwi in Lake Kivu, a unique region with an exceptional ecosystem and ideal conditions for coffee cultivation at altitude. Thanks to the fertile soil and climate, the beans develop a complex flavor with fruity nuances and depth.

The result is a coffee that combines elegance and strength, perfect for daily use and for those who love a coffee taste with character.

The coffee is produced on the island of Idjwi in Lake Kivu, located near the Virunga National Park, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world.

Coffee growing provides an important source of income for the local population, with more than 2,500 smallholder farmers contributing to production. It is striking that a significant share of employment is filled by women, both on the plantations and in the processing stations.

Production is strongly focused on sustainability: coffee is grown in the shade to avoid deforestation, only organic fertilizers are used and no pesticides. In addition, the micro-washing stations use solar energy and hydropower, which greatly reduces the ecological impact.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is a coffee-producing country in Central Africa, where coffee plays an important role in the agricultural sector and exports.

Arabica coffee grows mainly in high-altitude regions such as around Lake Kivu (North and South Kivu), where the combination of altitude, climate and soil produces coffees with fresh acidity and complex aromas.

Despite historic challenges, the coffee sector continues to develop, with a growing focus on quality, sustainability and international exports of specialty coffee.
