Malawi Satemwa AA/AB is a refined and accessible specialty coffee with a clean profile, a soft body and a pronounced sweetness. A slightly fruity character develops in the cup, which becomes even more apparent as the coffee cools.

This coffee comes from Satemwa Estate in Thyolo, a historic plantation with a strong reputation within specialty coffee. Careful processing and selection creates a balanced coffee with depth and elegance.

An ideal choice for those who enjoy a soft, sweet coffee with subtle complexity and a pleasant finish.

Satemwa Estate was founded in 1926 and is one of the most famous coffee and tea plantations in Malawi. The plantation is today managed by Alexander Kay, grandson of the founder, who focuses on specialty coffee and traditional coffee varieties.

Although the plantation was originally a tea plantation, coffee planting started in the 1970s. Today, Satemwa focuses on quality and traceability, with its own processing on the plantation itself (washing, drying and selection).

The plantation covers approximately 51 hectares and produces smaller volumes of high-quality coffee, aimed at specialty roasters and enthusiasts worldwide.

Malawi is a relatively small coffee producer in Africa, but is known for its high-quality and refined coffees. Production is concentrated in the south of the country, where a limited number of plantations are responsible for the majority of output.

Although coffee production is not the largest agricultural product, limited production is offset by a strong focus on quality, with coffees characterized by their clean profile, smooth body and fruity nuances.

Malawi coffee is increasingly appreciated within the specialty coffee world for its elegance and balance.
